How To Style a Sweater + Skirt

Wednesday, December 6, 2017

Happy Wednesday, friends! I love styling sweaters and skirts in the fall/winter it's such an easy way to create a stylish outfit! All you need is a sweater, super cute mini skirt, and boots or booties (if it's not freezing!) I've been obsessing over chenille lately! The material is so soft and looks so cozy!! I've linked a few chenille sweaters at the bottom of this post for ya'll to shop. Express is my go-to store for mini skirts. They always have the cutest styles at an affordable price. This mini skirt even has pockets! Both the skirt and sweater are under $50 right now. Lastly I paired this outfit with some thigh high boots. Steve Madden always carries really great quality thigh high boots. I've linked a few other options under shop the post.
I've been super busy planning for upcoming posts and our trip. We're headed to Tennessee next month so if ya'll know of any places we should check out while we are there let me know in the comments!

Wide Sleeve Sweater (ON SALE!) similar here // Frayed Hem Jeans //
Leopard Print Pumps similar here // Sunglasses (under $15!) //
DW Watch // Hoop Earrings // Tory Burch York Tote

Happy Monday, friends! This entire weekend Ava has been really sick with high fevers. Ava's never really had the flu before so seeing her like this really breaks my heart! We are giving her all the proper medications and doing everything we can to keep her comfortable. I'm just hoping she gets over this soon so I can have my hyper toddler that dances around and kisses herself when she looks in the mirror back!
Today's outfit I wanted to share is a comfy chic look for the busy moms! I know it's not easy being a mom in heels but these heels are actually SUPER comfy. I seriously wear these all the time! The heel is pretty short but not so short that it isn't stylish. ;) Which means you aren't walking around uncomfortable all day. Plus it's leopard print which is a sure way to add some spice to any outfit! I paired these heels with the TopShop wide sleeve sweater. It's currently under $40!! I really love how comfy this sweater is and the sleeve detailing. It's a very chic sweater that would be perfect for running errands on colder days or even a little more dressed up for the office! This sweater comes in two colors and is still available in most sizes. Whenever I get comfy I automatically throw my hair up in a bun. As ya'll know my hair is super long so I love to create huge buns on top of my head. This bun is actually super easy to do and literally takes me a few seconds. Would ya'll like to see a tutorial on my bun? If so let me know in the comments!

Rose Gold and Gold + DIY Flocked Christmas Tree

Friday, December 1, 2017

Chenille Flare Sleeve Sweater (sized up to get an off the shoulder look) // Jeans
Over The Knee Boot (under $75!)

Happy FriYAY, friends! It's finally December and I'm so excited to share our Christmas tree on the blog today! Every year I look forward to decorating our Christmas tree in a new and fun way! This year the theme is rose gold, gold, and faux fur! I'm pretty obsessed with how everything came together. I seriously stop myself when I'm walking by our Christmas tree just because it looks so pretty. I absolutely love our Christmas tree in general I always tell Isaac that we have found our forever Christmas tree. I love that it's pre-lit, has pine cone detailing, and is super huge. I got all our ornaments from HobbyLobby! If you haven't checked out their Christmas selection you should go like now because everything there is 50% off!! I also decided to decorate our bar cart for the holidays. I LOVE how it turned out! Isaac and I love having friends over for champagne (that's pretty much the only alcoholic drink we drink) lol! There are so many different ways you can decorate a bar cart for the holidays! I decided to add some festive trees, fake snow,  and a jar full of peppermints!

Did I mention that we actually flocked our tree ourselves?! Ya'll it's seriously so easy to flock your tree and super inexpensive! I'm going to share with ya'll everything we used and exactly what you need to do to achieve this look. Just for reference I bought a 2 pound bag of snow flock (we only used half the bag) and our tree is 9 ft. tall! I also recommend having someone help you with this tutorial not only does it make the process faster but it's way more fun to do this project with someone else!

DIY Flocked Christmas Tree:

  1. First you'll want to lay a tarp or even a plastic table cloth down on the floor before flocking your tree. Isaac and I didn't do this and the flocking took some time to get off the wood floors. You could work on this project outdoors but I'm pretty sure flocking would fall off as you bring the tree in so I recommend working on it in the spot you want to place your tree.
  2. If your tree is super big like ours you'll want to work in sections. Our tree comes in three sections so first we started with the bottom layer. I lifted each section of branches and sprayed water first from the spray bottle as Isaac poured the snow flock into the kitchen sifter. This literally took a few seconds to get the hang of! You can add as much or as little snow flock as you want to achieve the desired look. You'll also want to be sure to spray the snow flock as it falls from the sifter but don't spray directly at the sifter because then the snow flock will get stuck inside the sifter and it won't work the same. After you've finished you'll spray down the section generously one last time to lock in that snow flock! Always spray generously!
  3. Once you've finished you first section you can move on to the rest of the sections and do the exact same thing in step 2! I noticed for the top of our tree since it's so tall it was easier for us to work on that section on the floor and then put it on top once it was completely flocked.
  4. Let you tree dry at least overnight! I let our tree dry for an entire day and had no issues decorating the tree!
  5. This step is totally optional but after we had the tree put together I noticed a few spots we missed with the snow flock so I just went in with some snow spray to make it look more cohesive!
Isn't that so easy?! This is a super fun project you can work on with your significant other while listening to Christmas music and drinking hot coffee! I'm also linking our Christmas decor down below.
